'Off to Work' oil painting on canvas 22"h x 24"w
Off to Work
Oil on Canvas 22″h x 34″w
Steel Bridge on the Willamette River
Portland, Oregon
Working in bad weather is the most difficult thing about plein air painting. There is a gazebo over the rivers edge that worked well for this painting. I spent a few days here with a commercial fisherman who was spending some down time from work to get in some fishing. He was philosophical about his fishing and we enjoyed each others company. His name was Pete and I will probably never meet him again. The painting is about all of us going to work. That is me riding to my destination on the far right. It is the only object that I painted from my imagination as it is hard to be in two places at once. But the tug and train posed in passing over several days.
Off to Work is an original oil painting, with a professional wood frame
The canvas is on a heavy, durable, artist made stretcher
