New! Little Windows

Little Windows iscollection of mini oil paintings that express solitude, and sometimes loneliness, even in a community setting. The viewer has a unique perspective on these emotions, as if peeking in on them through Little Windows. The colors, and even the scale, reflect the singularity we carry as we navigate the dichotomy of being one as part of many.

So what are we looking at here?   Full disclosure:  Here it comes. . .
The Little Windows images are small plein air oil paintings. . .

of HO scale houses I made from paper, on imaginary landscapes. . .

derived from my HO train and RC car and tank table, in my basement studio.

The inspiration for this series comes from an unexpected gift I received from my neighbors - three boxes full of old photo frames, many made of wood and glass.  I cut wood panels to paint on.  To display the paper houses, I cut some of the frames for bases and the glass for the cases.

The titles of the paintings are captions as if they are illustrations from a book, that doesn't actually exist, called Little Windows by Jim Studley, who is me - when I dress like a pirate.
